by successful SME entrepreneurs, so that
they be ignited with this entrepreneurial
spirit,” said Mr Chan.
Each year, over 12,000 students graduate
from ITE from the various faculties. It is
in ITE’s vision to equip its students with
the relevant skills and knowledge so that
its graduates will be able to find jobs and
contribute to society.
“In line with the greater national agenda
to encourage our students to join
local SMEs, and for SMEs to hire local
employees, the ASME Forum is indeed
a day that will help bring SMEs and ITE
students one step closer towards that
goal,” said Mr Eden Liew, Principal of ITE
College East.
The ASME Forum seeks to honour and
recognise the integrated efforts of SMEs
and students, promote ITE’s expertise –
which is in line with the government’s push
for productivity improvements to SMEs,
as well as fuelling the entrepreneurial
spirit amongst our youths.
exhibition & Showcase
Uplifting SMEs’ image and providing
gainful employment opportunities
Adorned with colourful and vibrant
decorations, marketing collaterals,
standees and corporate gifts, 22 SMEs
showcased their exhibition booths and
job availabilities at the ASME Forum
2012. These SMEs were seeking for
young local talents from a ready available
pool of ITE students.
“Our objective for participating in this
SME event is mainly to keep in touch with
our local young talents. For a company
like Everlast, we look for potential
students who have the right attitude and
capability rather than merely certificates
that they are holding. I can say that we
have achieved our objective through this
event,” said Mr Teoh Eng Wai, Group
Financial Controller of Everlast Industries
(S) Pte Ltd.
