Store construction water in leakproof tanks, located away from the drainage system. Use<br />
construction water conservatively. Whenever possible, dispose of excess water on-site, by<br />
allowing it to soak into the ground.<br />
Saw Cut Slurry: Saw cut slurry contains pollutants that must be contained and disposed of<br />
properly. The Contractor shall: Prevent saw cut slurry from entering catch basins, manholes<br />
and storm drains. Direct slurry into a temporary pit. Dispose of by shoveling or vacuuming<br />
the slurry into a truck and removing from the site. Place drip pans or absorbent materials<br />
under saw cutting equipment when not in use. Clean up spills with absorbent materials<br />
rather than burying. Dispose of absorbent material properly.<br />
Except as otherwise provided in the Standard Specifications or elsewhere in these Special<br />
Provisions, full compensation for conforming to the requirements in this section shall be<br />
considered as included in the prices paid for the various contract items of work, and no<br />
additional compensation will be allowed therefore.<br />
15. SAFETY, SANITARY AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS<br />
The Contractor, his employees, his subcontractors and their employees shall promptly and<br />
fully carry out the existing safety, sanitary and medical requirements as may from time to<br />
time be prescribed by the Industrial Safety Commission and by County or State Health<br />
Departments to the end that proper work shall be done and the safety and health of the<br />
employees and of the community may be conserved and safeguarded. In case the Contractor<br />
does not observe any such regulations and orders, the Director of Public Works at the<br />
Contractor’s expense may enforce them.<br />
16. ELECTRICAL POWER<br />
Unless otherwise provided in the Special Provisions, the Contractor shall provide, at his own<br />
expense, all necessary electrical power required for his operations under the contract.<br />
17. PROTECTION <strong>OF</strong> UNDERGROUND FACILITIES<br />
Attention is directed to the possible existence of underground facilities not known to the<br />
owner or in a location different from that, which maybe indicated on the plans, or in these<br />
Special Provisions. The Contractor shall take steps to ascertain the exact location of all<br />
underground facilities prior to doing work that may damage such facilities or interfere with<br />
their service. If the Contractor discovers underground facilities not indicated on the Plans or<br />
in these Special Provisions, he shall immediately give the Director of Public Works written<br />
notification of the existence of such facilities. Such facilities shall be protected from damage<br />
as directed by the Director of Public Works and the Contractor will be paid for such work as<br />
extra work as provided in Section 3-3 of the Standard Specifications.<br />
18. AIR POLLUTION CONTROL<br />
Section 7-8.2, "Air Pollution," of the Standard Specifications is supplemented by the<br />
