Help is at hand for brides and grooms-to-be with top
tips on perfect planning from some of the region’s
favourite wedding professionals.
Cake & Favours
“Always book in for a consultation,”
advises Laura Draper from The Airyfairy
Cake Boutique in Didsbury. “This way
you can see where the cakes are made,
meet the people and really go into all the
different options available. Most cake
places can also make slight alterations
to get your order within budget. You’ll
normally get a taster or two as well, which
will help you decide, and don’t be scared
to ask questions.”
Cocoa Cabana in Didsbury offers bespoke
wedding cakes, gifts, favours and
chocolate dessert tables. Sarah Gallacher,
who creates the products herself, works
closely with two respected wedding
planners from the north west who can
assist with the planning if required. She
says: “All couples are looking for a day
that is perfect for them. Bring along details
such as the menu, the flowers and budget
to the consultation so we can create
bespoke chocolates and cakes, as well
as unique flavours to complement your
menu, and match your floral displays, all
within budget.”
Flowers
“Bring along photos of flowers that you
like the look of,” advises Sian from The
Flower Lounge in Didsbury. “You won’t
need to know the names, but this will
give a good idea of your personal taste
and the style of wedding you are going for.
Be open to suggestions that will suit your
wedding budget, season, venue, and style.
Sometimes by tweaking a few flowers or
FEATURE
ideas you will get much more of an impact
and the most from your budget.”
Stationery
Charley from Wilmslow-based Charlotte
Frances Designs advises: “You need to
send your invitations about two to three
months before the wedding in order to
give yourself plenty of time after your
RSVP date to correlate the info from your
RSVP, sort your final table plan and let the
caterer know any dietary requirements.
The last thing you want to do is feel
stressed and spoil the enjoyment.”
She adds: “It is always advisable to ask
guests to give any dietary requirements
when they RSVP to save any stress trying
to sort suitable meal replacement at the
last minute. Also, an RSVP card enclosed
will help you get your replies back quickly.”
For orders of service, Charley advises:
“Take care when copying hymns, readings
and poems off the internet. They are not
always accurate, so it’s advisable to
check them against a hard copy. Also,
check that the copyright allows you to
use them, as this is the responsibility of
the bride and groom and not the printers.
Finally, always check the final proof with
the person performing your wedding
ceremony before going to print.”
