EDUCATION NEWS Stockport Grammar takes flight for Cash 4 Kids The boys and girls from Stockport Grammar Junior School had a thrilling morning when they were part of Key 103’s Cash 4 Kids Day. Each of the visitors answered questions from the pupils, and actress Georgia reminded them to “work hard and never give up on your dreams”, before signing autographs and whizzing off to continue their day of fundraising. Year 1 pupil Finn was “really excited to meet someone from the radio and see a helicopter in school!” and all the children enjoyed demonstrating their dancing skills as the guests arrived. MGS goes global After fundraising activities during a week that included a ‘medical dress-up’ walk, firstaid relay races and a disco, the children were proud to have raised over £500 to help transform the outdoor area at Wythenshawe Hospital’s Starlight Unit into a green oasis of calm for young patients. Students at Manchester Grammar School are celebrating record offers this year from the UK’s and USA’s leading universities. Offers include 28 from Oxford and Cambridge, 13 from Imperial, 34 from UCL, 15 from King’s College, London and 10 from LSE. The number of students applying to international universities increased hugely this year and seven boys received offers from American universities, including Princeton and Stanford, along with a further offer from McGill in Canada. MGS is also celebrating 30 medic offers this year, which includes 25 doctors, four dentists and a vet!
