Social Action Youth Villages Each month we highlight an organization which receives funds through the Temple’s Social Action Allocations. Youth Villages helps Tennessee’s most vulnerable young people develop the capabilities necessary to live independently. After spending years in the foster care system, these youth are now turning 18 years old, have virtually no family or support systems and are making the huge transition into adulthood. Funding from Social Action Allocations helps to provide services which include initial help with housing related items, medical/dental expenses, food, hygiene needs, furniture, setting up housekeeping, job appropriate clothing, gas or bus passes, educational costs, infant/children’s clothing and equipment. As their basic physical needs are met, these youth will have a better chance to improve their emotional and mental health as they experience a positive new beginning as participants in Transitional Living program. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ We need your donation at The Temple Blood Drive! On January 27 th , students from the Religious School took one very heavy box to Ronald McDonald House, which will sell the metal to help them provide the comfort and care they offer to families of seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment at Nashville area hospitals. As a result, one of the students, Harrison Halprin, volunteered to take over emptying the container and delivering the tabs as his Bar Mitzvah project.
