It is with pleasure, as Chair of the Nominating Committee, to report to you the nominees<br />

for the slate of officers and Board of Trustees. I would like to thank the members of the<br />

committee for their time and commitment. Members of the committee were Nina Harris,<br />

Jackie Karr, Jimmy Marks, Betsy Chernau, Amy Smith and Risa Klein Herzog.<br />

Nominated Officers for 2013 - 2014: President, Ray Berk; Vice President, Ralph Levy; Treasurer,<br />

Martin Sir; Secretary, Joyce Freidman.<br />

Nominated to serve a four-year term as members of the Board of Trustees: Judy Book, Jamie Hirsch<br />

Brook, Michael Heilbronn, Chris McPherson, Jessica Viner and Cathy Werthan.<br />

Judy Book:<br />

Judy moved to Nashville over 4 years ago, one year in advance of her family, and quickly found a<br />

Nashville family at the <strong>Temple</strong>. Judy is a Nurse Practitioner. She is married to Jared who serves in a<br />

leadership position at the Gordon JCC. Judy is active in the Jewish community and is involved with the<br />

Social Action Committee. <strong>The</strong>y have two children, a son who is married and lives in Virginia, a grandson,<br />

and a daughter who is graduating from Wake Forest University.<br />

Nominations<br />

Jamie Hirsch Brook:<br />

Jamie is married to Jeremy Brook and has a one-year-old daughter, Anna. Jamie grew up in Nashville<br />

and has had all of her life cycle events at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong>. Jamie is an Occupational <strong>The</strong>rapist working at the<br />

pediatric rehabilitation clinic at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.<br />

Michael Heilbronn:<br />

Michael and his wife Donna have two children, Jackson and Alex. Alex is a senior and attends Hillsboro<br />

High School and Jackson is a junior at University of Tennessee. Michael is Executive Vice President, COO<br />

of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. Michael attended <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong>’s Conversion Conversations in 2010-<br />

2011 and converted at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> on September 9, 2011.<br />

Chris McPherson:<br />

Chris moved to Nashville 13 years ago and joined <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> community shortly thereafter. Chris and<br />

her husband John, an interventional cardiologist and medical residency director at Vanderbilt Medical<br />

Center, have two high-school-age children, Matt and Meghan, who had their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs at<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong>. Chris taught one year of Religious School at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong>, has been on <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong> Board<br />

of Trustees for two years, and spends the rest of her time hanging out with her family, swimming,<br />

coaching swim teams, and volunteering for a number of other organizations within the Nashville<br />

community.<br />

Jessica Viner:<br />

Jessica is a lifelong <strong>Temple</strong> member and recently co-chaired the Cantor Search Committee. She<br />

previously served on the Board from 2006-2010 and co-chaired the membership committee.<br />

Jessica spoke at Congregants’ Hour in 2009 and has volunteered for the <strong>Temple</strong> A<strong>rts</strong> Fes<strong>tiva</strong>l and<br />

the Religious School. She and her husband, Dan, were married at <strong>Temple</strong> and have three children<br />

in the Religious School.<br />

Cathy Werthan:<br />

Cathy is married to Tony Werthan and has two adult children, Justin (married to Hilary) & Lesley.<br />

Cathy has been a member of the <strong>Temple</strong> family for many years and converted at <strong>The</strong> <strong>Temple</strong><br />

in September 2011. She is founder and President of CPA Consulting Group, PLLC, a CPA firm<br />

located in Belle Meade and is a co-founder of Jones Werthan and Pezzano, LLC, an investment<br />

management & consulting company.<br />
