Zach Wilson<br />

Assistant Director - Player Development<br />

Zach Wilson joined the Player Development Department in September, 2011.<br />

Originally hired in January of 2002, he joined the front office in the Scouting<br />

Department in April of 2003 and was promoted to Assistant Director of Scouting<br />

on January 1, 2011, after serving as Manager of Scouting since 2006.<br />

In his current role, Wilson, 33, assists in all aspects of Player Development,<br />

including the management of the day to day operations and staff members, as well<br />

as evaluating players within the system. In his previous role, Zach supervised all<br />

amateur scouting personnel, managed day to day operations of the Scouting<br />

Department, organized the First-Year Player Draft and served as the area scout for <strong>Colorado</strong> and Wyoming.<br />

A former second baseman, Wilson was a Junior College All-American as a freshman at Vincennes<br />

University in 1997. He played two years at Vincennes (1997-98) and then two years at Indiana-Purdue<br />

University at Fort Wayne (1999-2000). He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Indiana University.<br />

Born and raised in Fort Wayne, IN, Zach attended Northside High School in Fort Wayne where he<br />

was first-team all-state in baseball. He, his wife, Jenny, and their daughter, Jadie, reside in Denver.<br />

Pat Daugherty<br />

Special Assistant to the General Manager<br />

Pat Daugherty joined the <strong>Rockies</strong> in September of 1991 and served as the<br />

club’s first scouting director until 1999. He moved into his current role in 2000. This<br />

year marks his 38th season in professional baseball. In 2005, The Scout of the Year<br />

program named Pat as its Midwest Region Scout of the Year.<br />

As scouting director, Daugherty’s staffs helped draft players such as Todd<br />

Helton and Jason Jennings. Pat came to <strong>Colorado</strong> after six seasons as Montreal's<br />

scouting supervisor. In 1990, he also managed the club’s New York-Penn League<br />

affiliate. He was the head coach at Indian Hills Community College in Centerville,<br />

IA for 17 years. In 1981, the Montreal Expos named him Field Director of Player Development. Pat won<br />

more than 500 games at IHCC and the school’s diamond is named after him.<br />

His pro career began in 1972 as manager at Cocoa Beach in the Gulf Coast League. In 1998, the<br />

American Baseball Coaches Association inducted him into its Hall of Fame. He's also a member of the<br />

Simpson College Hall of Fame, the Iowa Coaches Hall of Fame and the National Junior College Hall of<br />

Fame. Daugherty has a degree from Simpson and a Master's from Drake University.<br />

He and his wife, JoAnn, have four children: Mary Beth, Ann, Peggy and Mike.<br />

Dave Holliday<br />

Special Assistant to the General Manager<br />

Dave Holliday begins his 19th year with the <strong>Rockies</strong>, his fifth as a Special<br />

Assistant to the General Manger.<br />

Holliday, 56, had been the organization’s National Cross-Checker/Special<br />

Assignment Scout for 13 seasons. In 2002, he received the Herb Hippauf Scouting<br />

Award, an honor given every year by the <strong>Rockies</strong>’ scouting department in dedication<br />

of Herb Hippauf, a <strong>Rockies</strong> scout who passed away in 1995.<br />

Prior to joining the <strong>Rockies</strong> in 1994 he was an area scout for Pittsburgh from<br />

1990-93. He also served as an assistant coach at Oklahoma State (1981-88), his<br />

second stint with OSU, after receiving his first assistant coaching position there in 1977. At Yavapai JC he<br />

was an assistant coach in 1979-80. From there, Dave spent one year as the head coach at Murray State JC.<br />

A 1973 graduate of Uniontown (PA) High School, Dave attended Grand Canyon University, earning a<br />

B.S. in Physical Education and an M.S. in Exercise Physiology.<br />

Nick Piburn<br />

Manager - Communications / Public Relations<br />

Nick Piburn, 27, begins his sixth season with the <strong>Rockies</strong>, and third season<br />

in his current role of Manager. Piburn was the PR intern in 2007, and returned to<br />

the <strong>Rockies</strong> in June, 2008 after spending six months as an intern and coordinator<br />

in the Texas Rangers PR department. Piburn was the coordinator of<br />

Communications/PR from June 2008-May 2010 prior to his current position.<br />

In addition to acting as a liaison between the team and media, Piburn manages<br />

the release of club information on a day-to-day basis through team game notes,<br />

press releases, social media, the yearly information guide and statistical analysis.<br />

A native of <strong>Colorado</strong>, Piburn received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Journalism from <strong>Colorado</strong><br />

State University in 2006. Nick and his wife, Nikki, were married in June 2009 and reside in Denver.<br />
