COACHING CAREER: Hill is in his sixth season as a big league coach after after being named first base coach in<br />

November of 2006…in his role, he also coordinates baserunning and outfield instruction for the <strong>Rockies</strong>, who led the<br />

National League with 141 stolen bases in 2008...under Hill, Carlos Gonzalez won a Gold Glove Award in 2010 and tied for<br />

the league lead in outfield assists in 2011...additionally, Gonzalez now has two 20 home run/20 stolen base seasons with<br />

Hill as baserunning coach...now in his eighth season as a member of the <strong>Rockies</strong> organization, the Major League veteran<br />

had previously been the hitting coach for the <strong>Rockies</strong>’ High-A affiliate from 2004-06…Hill also served as the Modesto<br />

manager for the last three months of the 2006 season when former skipper Chad Kreuter was named head coach at<br />

USC…he took over as manager for the Nuts on June 9, 2006, guiding the club to a 36-45 mark the rest of the way…served<br />

on coaching staff for California/Carolina League All-Star Game in 2006...in 2008, he served on the National League All-<br />

Star coaching staff led by Clint Hurdle at Yankee Stadium.<br />

PLAYING CAREER: Hill’s playing career concluded in 2001 after nearly 19 seasons, including 13 in the<br />

majors…drafted by Toronto in the ninth round of the 1983 June draft, he went on to see Major League time with the Blue<br />

Jays (1989-91), Indians (1991-93), Cubs (1993-94, 1998-99), Giants (1995-97), Mariners (1998), Yankees (2000) and<br />

Angels (2001)…<strong>com</strong>piled a .271 lifetime average with 186 homers and 586 RBI in 1,162 games…was one of the game’s<br />

top pinch hitters, as he possessed a .287 lifetime average in the pinch with 13 home runs…at the time of his retirement,<br />

only former Rockie John Vander Wal (17) had more pinch homers among active players…one of Hill’s career highlights<br />

came with the Cubs on May 11, 2000 vs. Milwaukee, when he hit a home run onto the roof of an apartment building across<br />

the street from Wrigley Field…the homer landed near bleachers on top of one of the buildings across Waveland<br />

Avenue…at the time, the homer was estimated at approximately 490 feet, but many observers felt the distance was likely<br />

well over 500 feet.<br />

PERSONAL: Glenallen resides in his native Santa Cruz, CA, with his wife, Lori, and children Simone, Chanel,<br />

Heleyna and Glenallen Jr…graduated in 1983 from Santa Cruz High School, where he was just the second high school<br />

athlete ever offered scholarships to Arizona State University in both baseball and football (also Reggie Jackson).<br />
