2005: In his first full season in the Majors he went 2-6, 4.09 (61.2 ip, 28 er) and one save in 55 relief appearances<br />

and 2-2, 5.25 (24.0 ip, 14 er) in five starts...made all five starts in his first 15 games of the season, then beginning 6/9 made<br />

his last 45 appearances of the season in relief...began the season with two relief outings but then from 4/13-23 made his<br />

first three big league straight starts (1-1, 6.23)...during that span took the spot in the rotation vacated by the disabled<br />

Ramon Ortiz...following that three-start stretch, from 4/27-5/13 made eight consecutive appearances out of the bullpen (0-<br />

2, 3.46)...in his five starts the Reds went 3-2...twice was called upon to replace that day’s starting pitcher...in those two<br />

starts went 2-0, 2.45...on 4/13 at STL made his first Major League start after Ortiz was scratched that morning with a groin<br />

injury...in that 6-5 victory became the first Reds pitcher to win his first <strong>MLB</strong> start since Luis Pineda on 6/25/02 at CHC (5-<br />

2 win)...in the 11-10 victory on 7/4 at SF earned the first save of his professional career...on 5/31 at HOU, produced an<br />

2004: In his first full season at Triple-A led Louisville in wins (9), losses (11), starts (28) and innings pitched<br />

(162.2)...his 28 starts tied the franchise record...from 8/20-8/22 spent three days with the Reds but did not pitch...was<br />

Louisville’s Pitcher of the Month for April (4 games, 2-2, 1.88)...in the 6-0 victory on 4/19 vs. Norfolk threw his first professional<br />

shutout to help earn IL Pitcher of the Week honors...on 8/13 vs. Indy hit his first career home run.<br />

2003: One of 13 Reds players to make <strong>MLB</strong> debut...in 28 minor league starts for Richmond, Louisville and Greenville<br />

<strong>com</strong>bined to go 8-12, 3.41 with a <strong>com</strong>plete game...after he was acquired from the Braves on 8/14 (was the player to be<br />

named later in a deal for LHP Kent Mercker) he made four starts at Louisville before he was promoted to the Reds on<br />

9/7...that afternoon at STL threw 2.0 innings in his Major League debut (2h, 1bb, 1 HBP, Mike Matheny solo homer)...in the<br />

10-6 win vs. PIT on 9/9 tossed a scoreless inning for his first career victory...on 9/13 at CHC recorded his first career strikeout<br />

(Damian Miller)...when he debuted on 9/7 at STL became the 56th player and 29th pitcher to appear for the Reds,<br />

extending both club records that eventually would reach 57 and 30, respectively.<br />

PoSTSEASoN: Was added to <strong>Colorado</strong>’s postseason roster for the 2009 NLDS vs. the Phillies, despite having<br />

pitched in just 24 games for the club during the regular season...retired six of seven batters faced, issuing just one walk<br />

(Utley)...did not allow any runs...was the third pitcher used in Game 2, a win at PHI, picking up a hold (1.0 ip)...relieved<br />

starter Jason Hammel in Game 3 loss (1.0 ip) at Coors Field.<br />

MINoR LEAgUES 2002: Led Double-A Greenville in innings pitched (159.1) and strikeouts (123) and tied for staff<br />

lead in starts (26)...his walks-to-9.0 ip ratio of 2.14 was 2nd-best among Southern League starters...was named<br />

Greenville’s Pitcher of the Month for May (2-0, 1.98)...2001: Missed the entire season with a ruptured disc in his back that<br />

required surgery on 3/29 (Dr. Lee Kelley)...suffered the injury during Spring Training...healed quickly enough to pitch in the<br />

instructional league and Arizona Fall League...2000: At Macon and Myrtle Beach...led all Braves minor leaguers with 168<br />

strikeouts while issuing just 29 walks...was South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month for May (5-0, 2.18)...at Macon<br />

allowed just 8.88 runners per 9.0 ip, fewest among SAL starting pitchers...1999: Signed his first professional contract on<br />

8/23/98 and began his career the next season at rookie Danville.<br />

PERSoNAL: In 1998 graduated from McCallum High School (Austin, TX), where he lettered in baseball and basketball...was<br />

named Sophomore of the Year for his district in baseball...was the district’s baseball Most Valuable Player as<br />
