'ower Games
One problem that can be experienced when running
Spectrum games on the Amiga is that the games are
exceptionally slow. This is because of the different processing
speeds between the two machines. Howevei.
the games on this CD don't seem to slow down and as
said before, load in seconds.
People who used to use the Spectrum frequently will
get the most out of this CD. 'What's the point, Though?' I
hear you say. People tend to leave these CDs alone,
maybe because their experience with the Spectrum
wasn't a good one, or they still have theirs and claim that
if they want to play the games they'll fish them out from
a box in the corner of the attic.
Don't bother - for £14.99 you may as well save
yourself the trouble. I can guarantee you'll slide
deeply into old times.
ower Games from PD Soft is another games
CD-Rom containing Public Domain and
shareware games. Once again they are
categorised into headings. such as sport,
tion and puzzle, etc. There are more than 500
e s all available to you Through one of the most
d ndly menu systems ever, Once you've found a
- e it will take you a while to actually select it
l °use you'll find yourself looking at instructions or
oer
information when you thought you'd selected
agame
itself
This d is because when you select a particular box,
e ihighlight
around the outside is very faint and it's difficult to see what you've selected. Although the
n
eniee to be compatible with the CD32, some of the games fail to work which seems very pointless,
Also, you will recognise or have heard of some of the games, but
g
others you will have no idea what they are - and most of them
u
aren't really worth the time of day. There are 500 Public
p
Domain games included on the CD, but there are not many
i
of outstanding quality - however they are reasonable none-
n
the-less.
s
The menu system, as mentioned before, is very unfriendly, It
t
gives the games name and a short description, along with the
dickAdi a
creator's name. Although It may seem that a lot of time has
haat • Nag Hatlitt n
been spent putting this CD together, it is clearly very rough
elliothen ScNonnor.M. Amp.. di. Lutlyouff •
t
around the edges. The unfriendly menu system together with the
l
exceptionally bad choice of games makes this CD only
y
just worth its asking price. Having said that, there isn't
v
much else knocking around for only E7.99.
It's astonishing
how the games
have advanced
