Eastwood Ryde Umpiring Convenor Manual “to be used in conjunction with the Netball Australia NUDF” THE UMPIRE CLASSIFIEDS Once you have completed your allocation you may find: You have too many umpires and need some extra games or higher grades. You do not have enough umpires. You need to do an umpiring swap in the same or another timeslot. You have umpires that a free every now and then and would like more games. You have an emergency and need an umpire to fill in one week. Then you need the Umpire Classifieds. When replying to the Umpire Classified or putting information onto the Umpire Classifieds PLEASE contact the person on the ERNA Umpiring Committee in charge of the Umpire Classifieds. DO NOT USE THE EMAIL LIST TO SEND OUT YOUR OWN PLEA because there is now a silent Email list that you will not be able to access. Supply the following information (best to use email if you can): Club Club contact and phone number Name, age, qualifications, and availability (venues and times) of umpire (if available) Club, team number, grade, venue and time of game (if requiring umpire) and weeks if it is not every week If you do not want Umpires to be contacted directly, then providing your own contact details is sufficient. Eastwood Ryde Umpiring Convenor Manual “to be used in conjunction with the Netball Australia NUDF” THE NEUTRAL UMPIRING SYSTEM HOW DOES NEUTRAL UMPIRING WORK? The umpiring system at Eastwood Ryde is NEUTRAL, which means you can’t umpire your own team. But the umpiring committee does its best to make sure umpires do not umpire their own club. This can be difficult in grades with multiple teams from one club, during forfeits, club umpiring swaps or in A grade. Teams will need to supply an umpire at the same time they play. The ERNA Umpiring Committee allocates teams to umpiring duties. Club Umpiring Convenors should allocate Umpires to teams. All team allocations for Day Competition are available at the Umpiring Table on the day of competition and are not in the Fixtures Book. “AA” and National A Badged umpires are always considered NEUTRAL. Umpires learn their umpiring duty at the Umpire Table. The ERNA Umpiring Committee may move an umpiring duty up or down grades in the same time slot to maintain neutrality or for mentoring purposes. Umpires allocated by clubs may request to move up or down grades if a suitable swap is available. IF IT IS KNOWN THAT A PARTICULAR GAME IS GOING TO NEED STRONGER UMPIRES, THEN THE UMPIRING COMMITTEE NEED TO KNOW IN ADVANCE IN ORDER TO REARRANGE THE ALLOCATIONS. UMPIRES SIGNING ON The Umpires Table at Meadowbank Park will be outside the Physiotherapy Room (downstairs meeting room). At Brush Farm it will be in the ERNA Office. All umpires are to report to the Umpires Table at least 20 minutes prior to the commencement of the time slot. All umpires must correctly attach a Top Ryde City sponsor patch to their back with either Velcro OR pins in the top two corners of the patch before leaving the umpire room. IT IS THE CLUB’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE ALL THEIR UMPIRES TURN UP. IF AN UMPIRE DOES NOT TURN UP THERE WILL NOT BE ENOUGH PEOPLE AS UMPIRE ON DUTY TO RUN AROUND AND FIND YOU A REPLACEMENT.
