Eastwood Ryde Umpiring Convenor Manual “to be used in conjunction with the Netball Australia NUDF” TRAIN THE TRAINER: UMPIRE MENTORING AND TESTING SEMINAR This seminar is a must for anyone planning to mentor or test an umpire. It will consist of a theoretical session where expert Umpire Mentors give information and tips on all aspects of supporting other umpires. If time permits, there will be a practical session on actual games for consolidation. UDP Umpire Mentors will be mentored by experience Trainers to help them improve. RECOMMENDED STANDARDS FOR UMPIRE MENTORS The Umpiring Committee recommends that an Umpire Mentor be at least two badges ahead of the Umpire they are mentoring. This ensures the correct information is passed on in the correct way. They should also be up to date with their accreditations (i.e. Section 1 Theory pass and/or Rules in Action attendance.) Key Performance Indicator (KPI) sheets should be used to help umpires keep track of their own training and performance. Eastwood Ryde Umpiring Convenor Manual “to be used in conjunction with the Netball Australia NUDF” ERNA NATIONAL BADGE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES To complement and incorporate the Netball Australia and Netball NSW programmes, ERNA runs a variety of training events for developing umpires. NATIONAL C & B BADGING The Umpiring Committee works with Netball NSW and the AA Umpires to provide mentoring and badging panels for umpires ready for National Badging. Clubs should submit names of Umpire Candidates and Umpire Mentors willing and able to mentor badge. All badging panels require 3 up-to-date umpires. The Umpiring Committee cannot badge your umpires without these umpires from your clubs. Any Umpire wishing to be considered for a National Badge MUST have completed the required pre-requisites BEFORE a panel is considered. In accordance with recommendations from All Australia umpires may not necessarily know that a testing panel is watching them. NATIONAL A BADGING ERNA is not responsible for badging or coaching umpires to National A. We do, however, advocate on behalf of umpires wishing to seek State League games of standard by submitting names to Netball NSW. Allocation to these games is done by Netball NSW and a Grading & Endorsement panel. Attendance at Netball NSW B Camp is recommended as well as nominating to umpire State League divisions 1-7.
