TRAIN THE TRAINER: UMPIRE MENTORING AND TESTING SEMINAR
This seminar is a must for anyone planning to mentor or test an umpire.
It will consist of a theoretical session where expert Umpire Mentors give information and
tips on all aspects of supporting other umpires. If time permits, there will be a practical
session on actual games for consolidation.
UDP Umpire Mentors will be mentored by experience Trainers to help them improve.
RECOMMENDED STANDARDS FOR UMPIRE MENTORS
The Umpiring Committee recommends that an Umpire Mentor be at least two badges
ahead of the Umpire they are mentoring. This ensures the correct information is passed
on in the correct way. They should also be up to date with their accreditations (i.e.
Section 1 Theory pass and/or Rules in Action attendance.)
Key Performance Indicator (KPI) sheets should be used to help umpires keep track of
their own training and performance.
