The f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs <strong>of</strong> this study reveal <strong>in</strong>trigu<strong>in</strong>g patterns <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>degenerative</strong> <strong>jo<strong>in</strong>t</strong> <strong>disease</strong> that encourage discussion and<br />

comparison not only with <strong>the</strong> medical literature, but similar<br />

skeletal material as well. The study <strong>of</strong> <strong>degenerative</strong> <strong>jo<strong>in</strong>t</strong><br />

<strong>disease</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>radius</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Poole-Rose ossuary population makes<br />

a significant contribution to <strong>the</strong> etiology <strong>of</strong> DJD and confirms<br />

its diverse and elusive nature. The ultimate goal <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>terpret<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> results is to make a general statement<br />

concern<strong>in</strong>g <strong>degenerative</strong> <strong>jo<strong>in</strong>t</strong> <strong>disease</strong> <strong>in</strong> this population <strong>of</strong><br />

people, and to see how well it fits with o<strong>the</strong>r studies on DJD.<br />

Due to <strong>the</strong> fact that DJD occurs ma<strong>in</strong>ly at <strong>jo<strong>in</strong>t</strong> surfaces where<br />

bones articulate with o<strong>the</strong>r bones, it is relevant to this<br />

research to look at articulation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> radio-humeral <strong>jo<strong>in</strong>t</strong>, and<br />

to see if <strong>the</strong>re is a significant relationship between <strong>the</strong><br />

manifestation <strong>of</strong> degeneration on each bone <strong>in</strong>dependently. In<br />
