Rome, who dost call thyself Holy, Ca-
tholic, and Apostolic, these are the deeds
which thou hast done in the earth. Fear
not to read them, they shall one day be
dragged to light, when these wrecks shall
plead for vengeance before a crowded uni-
verse ; the dungeon shall rehearse its
groans, and the saints shall then laugh thee
to scorn, and triumph in thy judgments.
Ye darksome yet hallowed dungeons

light, and liberty, when gross darkness
hath covered the king's palace.
After some days some chaldrons of
burning coals, mingled with wood, were
thrown into the dungeon. When it was
opened, nothing was to be found but ashes,
