This is two interactive packages
simulating role-playing exercise in
German, written by Computing and
Modern Languages teachers. Age range
12 to adult.
In Im Restaurant the computer
plays the part of a waiter and the
student has to order a meal and
something to drink.
In Verkehrsunfall the student buys
petrol in a garage, then is involved in
an accident and has to answer a
policeman's questions.
Both programs entertain as well as
instruct, by the use of graphics, colour
and sound. The packages can be used
by younger, or less able students
attempting longer, more complex
responses. Any student unsure of an
answer has only to type in 'help' to
obtain assistance. Therefore the
packages can be used for individuual
learning as well as a whole class
activity.
Worksheets provided with the
programs contain reinforcement
exercise and suggestions for pairedspeaking
activities.

GCSE and A level students.
Equilibrium is student interactive and
reveals in bar chart form the per cent
yield of reactants and products for five
reactions under different conditions of
temperature, pressure and initial
reactant concentrations. The rules of
equilibrium are clearly demonstrated,
and a test on these rules is included.
Metal illustrates with colourful
graphics the three crystal structures and
unit cell types relating to metals and
provides examples in each category.
Ionic similarly uses graphics to
illustrate the structural features of three
compounds and employs both space
filling and ball and spoke images.
Cleavage planes for one compound are
shown in relation to its ionic
arrangements.
