George and Cleo Cross Endowed Scholarship<br />
NUMBER GIVEN: Up to 4<br />
AMOUNT: $750<br />
TYPE: Merit/Need<br />
ELIGIBILITY: Sophomore level and above with GPA <strong>of</strong><br />
3.0 or higher; must have completed the equivalent <strong>of</strong><br />
30 undergraduate hours <strong>of</strong> academic credit during the<br />
calendar year prior to the award (Spring, Summer, Fall).<br />
must be a Botany or Microbiology student at the OU<br />
with firm intentions <strong>of</strong> pursuing a career in Microbiology<br />
or Plant Biology. Applicants must request one letter<br />
<strong>of</strong> recommendation from a faculty member from the<br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Botany & Microbiology. Sophomores<br />
may request their letter from a faculty member from<br />
Botany & Microbiology, Chemistry & Biochemistry,<br />
Physics & Astronomy, or Zoology Departments.<br />

in the Department <strong>of</strong> Botany & Microbiology. <strong>The</strong> award<br />
will be based on merit in teaching and/or research.<br />

a 3.0 GPA with firm intentions <strong>of</strong> pursuing a career<br />
in microbiology; preference given to undergraduates.<br />

ELIGIBILITY: All full-time regularly enrolled female<br />
graduate students working toward an advanced<br />
degree in the life sciences. Preference is given to<br />
students working toward an advanced degree in<br />
Botany & Microbiology. Scholarship based on merit in<br />
both teaching and research, and is to be awarded on a<br />
competitive basis. Two letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation from<br />
a faculty member at the OU.<br />

Margaret Root McKinley Scholarship<br />

AMOUNT: $500<br />
TYPE: Merit/Need<br />
ELIGIBILITY: All Microbiology majors. Must be a fulltime,<br />
regularly enrolled student in good academic<br />
standing; must be a U.S. citizen; must maintain at least<br />
a 3.0 GPA. No applications; must be nominated in<br />
writing by an OU faculty member.<br />

Paul G. Risser Scholarship<br />
NUMBER GIVEN: 1<br />
AMOUNT: Up to $1500<br />
TYPE: Merit<br />
ELIGIBILITY: Full-time, regularly enrolled students<br />
majoring in Botany or Microbiology. Must be a native <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Oklahoma</strong>. Preference given to Kay County residents.<br />
Any eligible, deserving undergraduate or graduate<br />
student is qualified for either an initial or a subsequent<br />
award. Must be making satisfactory progress towards<br />
graduation and demonstrate financial need. Must<br />
achieve and maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.<br />
