<strong>The</strong> Mewbourne School <strong>of</strong> Petroleum and Geological<br />
Engineering has a strong scholarship program<br />
where scholars are recognized for their academic<br />
achievement and commitment to the oil and gas<br />
industry. Incoming freshmen, transfer students, current<br />
students, as well as upperclassmen who change their<br />
major to Petroleum Engineering are eligible to apply for<br />
scholarships that are competitive based on academic<br />
performance, leadership and involvement on campus<br />
in the school and the industry. All undergraduate<br />
petroleum students complete one application to be<br />
considered for all awards made by the Mewbourne<br />
School. Incoming Freshmen that complete the MPGE<br />
General Scholarship Information Form are eligible<br />
to apply for the prestigious Mewbourne Leadership<br />
Scholarship Program.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Mewbourne Leadership Scholars Program is<br />
the school’s premiere scholarship award requiring a<br />
supplemental application for incoming freshmen only.<br />
It is an annual renewable scholarship starting at $4,000<br />
a year for up to five years.<br />
Current students will receive information in January<br />
about applying for scholarships for the next year.<br />
Students may contact the department for an application<br />
or go online to mpge.ou.edu. <strong>The</strong> deadline to submit all<br />
scholarship forms is March 1.<br />
General Scholarships<br />
AVAILABLE TO: Undergraduate<br />
AMOUNT: Varies/average is $3,000 a year at the<br />
upper-class level.<br />
TYPE: Merit<br />
ELIGIBILITY: Full-time students admitted to or<br />
registered at OU and majoring in Petroleum or<br />
Geological Engineering.<br />
DEADLINE: March 1<br />
AVAILABLE TO: Graduate<br />
AMOUNT: $1,000-$10,000<br />
TYPE Merit<br />
ELIGIBILITY: M.S. or Ph.D. students in Petroleum or<br />
Geological Engineering; U.S. citizen or applied for<br />

citizenship or permanent resident visa. Candidates for<br />
scholarships are selected in the graduate recruitment<br />
process.<br />
