What is pictorial space?
To start, I show pictorial space in diagrams drawn by Casper. Later I will
show it in paintings. Do not be deceived by the simplicity of these diagrams:
pictorial space is extraordinarily difficult to achieve.
Diagrams
The overall picture plane is usually rectangular. Width and height must be
in proportion. In figures 1 and 2, sections a and b must also be in proportion.
