The Center for <strong>Student</strong> Involvement is bringing a brand new<br />
major event to our campus: Oktoberfest! Come out to the U-SU<br />
Plaza to sample fantastic German food, listen to authentic live<br />
Oktoberfest music, and play for free for your chance to walk<br />
away with some cool prizes! Be sure to check out the O-Fest<br />
Beer Garden to sample some high quality brews (21+ only, CA<br />
ID/license required). Tickets are $5 for food and/or $5 for Beer<br />
Garden on the day of the event, CASH only.<br />

KABUKI: PERFORMING ART<br />
AND CULTURE OF JAPAN<br />

The Japanese Studies Center celebrates its 35th anniversary by<br />
presenting a kabuki dance performance, lecture, and hands-on<br />
workshop given by two Masters. This event provides students<br />
with a rare opportunity to experience the authentic Japanese<br />
performing art from the 17th century. Call Modern Languages and<br />

SPEAKING IN TONGUES<br />

An eye-opening documentary which challenges Englishonly<br />
superiority, Speaking in Tongues follows four typical<br />
American kids, with one exception. Their parents put them<br />
in a school where, from the first day of kindergarten, their<br />
teachers speak mostly Chinese or Spanish. Directed by<br />
Marcia Jarmel and Ken Schneider, 2009, 60 minutes.<br />

L.A. at a regional collegiate competition? Then sign up for the billiards<br />
tournament! All placing participants will receive cash prizes while the<br />
top male and female go on to have their registration, transportation, and<br />
meal expenses covered at the ACUI regional tournament. FREE food and<br />
