ONE CAMPUS. ONE BOOK.
PARABLE OF THE SOWER BY OCTAVIA BUTLER
Join us for the 3rd annual One Campus, One Book community-reading program
at Cal State L.A. This year's book is by Octavia Butler, an award-winning African-
American author of science fiction who grew up in Altadena and attended classes
in the English departments at Pasadena City College and Cal State L.A. Parable of
the Sower is set in a future Los Angeles where citizens survive only through forcible
defense of the walled communities in which they live. Read the book to decide for
yourself if this scenario is more fiction than fact, or fact than fiction! For additional
information and a calendar of One Campus, One Book events, visit http://calstatela.
