The Gender & Sexuality Resource Center presents its<br />

second Womyn of Color Conference. With the theme, Exploring<br />

Power, this conference explores issues related to women of color<br />

through the arts, political involvement, community activism, and<br />

personal wellness and empowerment. The conference is open<br />

HARVEST OF LONELINESS: THE BRACERO<br />

Blending rare archival footage and photographs together with recent<br />

interviews, Harvest of Loneliness shows how several million men, in<br />

one of the largest state-managed migrations in history, were imported<br />

from 1942 to 1964 to work as cheap, controlled and disposable workers.<br />

Film will be followed by a discussion by the film directors and faculty<br />

from the CSULA Department of Chicano Studies. Directed by Dr. Gilbert<br />

G. González (Professor Emeritus and Historian, UCI Chicano/Latino<br />

Studies) and Dr. Vivian Price (Interdisciplinary Studies/PACE, CSU-<br />

DRIVE.": TAKE THE DUI GOGGLES<br />

CHALLENGE TO LEARN THE TRUTH.<br />

Noon - 2 pm | U-SU Plaza<br />

One of the problems with alcohol is it impairs judgment. You<br />

may think your body can handle alcohol without any effects.<br />

You’re wrong. Slip on the DUI Goggles and try out the challenge<br />

course. This experience will show you that getting into a car with<br />

an intoxicated driver is one trip you should never take. Be sure to<br />

visit the information tables to pick up resources on how to keep<br />

your friends and family safe while they celebrate this holiday<br />

season. Information on recognizing alcohol poisoning, what to do<br />

when a friend is in trouble, and how to avoid the financial, legal<br />

and emotional consequences of a DUI will be available. Before you<br />

go to class, share your opinion on whether the legal drinking age<br />

should be lowered. You’ll find the opinions shared on our Amethyst<br />

Initiative board may surprise you<br />

TIPS for the <strong>University</strong> is a fun, interactive<br />

alcohol awareness program that teaches<br />

students how to intervene when their friends are drinking too much<br />

or headed for trouble due to alcohol. Come learn the skills to help<br />

decrease the number of alcohol-related incidents on our campus.<br />

Healthy snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.<br />
