SATURDAY: Meet in Dijon and transfer<br />

to ‘Caprice’ for welcome drinks. As you<br />

and your fellow travellers anticipate the<br />

week ahead, the barge begins its journey<br />

along the Burgundy Canal to Ouges for<br />

the evening mooring.<br />

SUNDAY: Return to Dijon, known<br />

for its mustard, and embark on a<br />

walking tour of its lovely medieval<br />

center this morning. After lunch on<br />

board, ‘Caprice’ continues cruising<br />

on the canal. You have opportunities<br />

to walk or c ycle on the towpath.<br />

MONDAY: Local monks produced wine<br />

at Clos de Vougeot as early as the 12th<br />

century. Enjoy a private wine tasting<br />

here before the afternoon cruise to<br />

Chalon-sur-Saône, the second-largest<br />

city in Burgundy and an important<br />

‘Caprice’ cruising in Southern Burgundy<br />

trading center since Gallo-Roman times.<br />

Visit the beautiful medieval town center<br />

surrounding Cathédrale Saint-Vincent.<br />

TUESDAY: ‘Caprice’ enters the Canal<br />

du Centre today via a lock with a 50-foot<br />

rise. Cruise along an attractive, winding<br />

stretch where a good towpath and fairly<br />

frequent locks offer ample opportunities<br />

to walk or cycle. This afternoon, visit<br />

the nearby village of Rully for a guided<br />

tour of a 12th-century château. Rejoin<br />

the barge, moored in the lovely town<br />

of Chagny.<br />

WEDNESDAY: After breakfast, explore<br />

Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy.<br />

Visit the magnificent Hôtel-Dieu,<br />

a charity hospital founded in 1443<br />

and boasting the finest Burgundian-<br />

Flemish architecture in the world. In
