Course Unit Description MCDBA on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Certification Requirements 128 Elective Elective Elective The MCDBA credential is the premier certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases. Microsoft Certified Database Administrators (MCDBAs) design, implement, and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases. Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 candidates need to pass three core exams and one elective exam that provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in the implementation and administration of SQL Server databases. Microsoft Windows Server 2003 exams now can be used to fulfill the networking systems core exam requirement in combination with SQL Server 2000 exams. Core Exams (3 Exams Required) MCDBA candidates are required to pass one SQL Server administration exam and one SQL Server design exam. In addition, MCDBA candidates have the option to pass either one Windows 2000 Server or one Windows Server 2003 exam to fulfill the networking systems core requirement. Elective Exams (1 Exam Required) In addition to the core exam requirements, you must also pass one elective exam that provides proof of expertise with a specific Microsoft server product. The following Windows Server 2003 exams have been added to the MCDBA track as options to the core requirements: • Exam 70-290: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment. • Exam 70-291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure will be added in September 2003 to the pool of electives. • Exam 70-293: Planning and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure will be added in September 2003 to the pool of electives. MCSE on Microsoft Windows 2000 Certification Requirements The MCSE credential is the premier certification for professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform and Microsoft server software. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers (MCSEs) design and implement an infrastructure solution based on the Windows platform and Microsoft Servers software. They are among the most technically proficient professionals available to help organizations make a successful transition to the Windows 2000 operating system and to ensure that they reap the ongoing benefits that Windows 2000 and Active Directory are designed to deliver. Specializations include MCSE: Messaging and MCSE: Security. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) candidates on the Microsoft Windows® 2000 track are required to pass seven exams or the equivalent that include the following:
Core Exams (5 Exams Required) • Four (4) Operating System exams. Candidates must pass one exam from each set of operating system exams—client operating system and networking system—in the table that follows. • One (1) design exam. Candidates must pass one exam that provides proof of expertise for design skills for specific Microsoft server technologies. Elective Exams (2 Exams Required). The elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation. MCSE on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Certification Requirements Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) candidates on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 track are required to satisfy the following requirements: Core Exams (6 Exams Required) • Four networking system exams • One client Operating System exam • One design exam Elective Exams (1 Exam Required) Together with the core exams, the elective exams provide a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation. Note: Core exams are a must for MCSE on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Core Elective exams: Any one of the two exams must be done MCSA on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Certification Requirements The MCSA on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 certification is designed for professionals who implement, manage, and troubleshoot existing network and system environments based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server platforms. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrators (MCSAs) administer network and systems environments based on the Microsoft Windows platforms. Specializations include MCSA: Messaging and MCSA: Security. The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification helps students to advance their career by ensuring they have the skills to successfully manage and troubleshoot system environments running on Microsoft Windows operating systems.
