TUEPINFANTRY D)IVISIONS.<br />
An <strong>infantry</strong> division also consists <strong>of</strong> the headqyuarters, the<br />
troops, and thle administrative de~partments.<br />
The headlquarters includes the general <strong>of</strong>ficer commnandling<br />
the division, his staff, the general commanding the <strong>infantry</strong>r, thle<br />
artillery commalnder, the commauder <strong>of</strong> the engineers <strong>of</strong> the<br />
divisionf, and the chiefs <strong>of</strong> the administrativedepartments, viz,<br />
supply, sanitary (one group~ <strong>of</strong> divisional litter bearers and two<br />
`ambulances), pay and post <strong>of</strong>fice, military police, and militaryt<br />
justice (court-martial <strong>of</strong> the division). The troops ar~e:: Three<br />
regiments -<strong>of</strong> infanutry or two brigadces <strong>of</strong> two regiments each.<br />

heavy artillery, and trench ar-tillery), the divisional cavralry<br />

the fourth companies <strong>of</strong> these` batt~alions, which ·remain behind<br />
with their <strong>of</strong>ficers, noncommissioned <strong>of</strong>fcers, men, and vehicles,<br />
but which. continue to <strong>for</strong>m part <strong>of</strong> their organizatIionfs, from<br />
which they are regarded as detached. The commrrand <strong>of</strong> the.<br />
group <strong>of</strong> conjpanies pertaining to each orga'~nization~ is ordinar~ily<br />
exerciserl by the senior captain present.<br />
'SHE I'NFANTRYL BRIGA~ak.<br />
The inafantryg brigade is not an a~dministrative unit. It, in-:<br />
cluldes a general <strong>of</strong>i~cerecommanding the brigade, a mluitary,
