Potato Celebration Day.<br />
Venue: An t-Ionad Glas Organic College, Co. <strong>Limerick</strong> VEC, Dromcollagher.<br />
Time: 11.00am – 1.30pm<br />
This event will celebrate the love affair that Irish people have with the potato. The best var<strong>ie</strong>t<strong>ie</strong>s, growing<br />
techniques and taste will be explored. Health & Nutrition information as well as recipes will be provided.<br />
Tours, tasting of var<strong>ie</strong>t<strong>ie</strong>s and practical demonstrations of growing at garden and f<strong>ie</strong>ld scale will also<br />
feature. This event is of interest to food conscious people, home gardeners and famil<strong>ie</strong>s and students of<br />
horticulture and food.<br />

Urban Gardening – Where? Why? Who?<br />
Venue: UL Community Roof Garden, University of <strong>Limerick</strong> – meet at main reception of UL.<br />
Time: 11am-1.00pm<br />
A showcase of the UL Community Roof Garden, followed by a talk on the urban gardening phenomenon<br />
worldwide. This event is of interest to people interested in starting their own garden in small spaces such<br />
as roofs, balcon<strong>ie</strong>s, driveways and/or in creating/joining a community garden.<br />

‘<strong>Learning</strong> your way to the future’- by understanding the past.<br />
Venue: T1.17, Mary Immaculate College, South Circular Road.<br />
Time: 2.00pm – 5.00pm<br />
This event will teach members of the local community the skills needed to engage in oral history, and to<br />
provide an opportunity for them to put this learning into practice. In essence, once they have acquired<br />
these skills, they will then interv<strong>ie</strong>w an older member of their community (preferably a grandparent)<br />
who has also attended the event. This event is of interest to both teenagers and older members of their<br />
community.<br />
Introduction to Geocaching<br />
Venue: Room CS305a, Computer Sc<strong>ie</strong>nces Building, University of <strong>Limerick</strong>.<br />
Time: 2.00pm – 5.00pm<br />
Geocaching has become the new interactive treasure hunt game for all age groups integrating latest<br />
technology. The event will offer both a classroom introduction to geocaching and a recreational outdoor<br />
activity on the UL grounds. Bring a tiny object to give away as a cache! Family fr<strong>ie</strong>ndly event. This event<br />
is of interest to anyone with an interest in using modern technology for outdoor pursuits. (Hosted by UL<br />

CPR for Family and Fr<strong>ie</strong>nds<br />
Venue: Arthur’s Quay Shopping Centre.<br />
Time: 3.00pm – 6.00pm.<br />
Demonstration by Acute Medical Training on the basics of CPR and how to react and deal with lifethreatening<br />
emergenc<strong>ie</strong>s in the home or office. Information on how to recognise the symptoms of heart<br />
attach, stroke and how to deal with cardiac arrest, choking in adult, child and infant, and demonstrate the<br />
use of a defibrillator. Try CPR with the help of instructors or simply watch and gather information.<br />
An Introduction to the Architectural Heritage and History of<br />
Adare<br />
Venue: Front Plaza, Adare Heritage Centre,<br />
Time: 2.30pm – 5.00pm<br />
Guided tour of Adare that offers an opportunity to learn of the village’s history, and the resources<br />
available to assist participants learn about their own area. A themed ‘Treasure Hunt’ will be available<br />
for younger attendees. Special lunch rate available in Dovecot restaurant, Heritage Centre- please<br />
quote “Architectural Heritage Tour”. This event is of approx 90 minute-duration on Adare’s main street,<br />
culminating in a complimentary visit to the Exhibition in the Heritage Centre.<br />
