It is like the case of a superior pers<strong>on</strong>, who we can say is fit to attain spiritual release,<br />

When he is said to be a Wiku, <strong>on</strong> the point of being liberated, exactly there is where the<br />

difficulty arises,<br />

Or when he is described as a sovereign, <strong>on</strong> the point of being liberated, exactly there is where<br />

the difficulty arises,<br />

If at the moment of your death you are unable make your own the liberati<strong>on</strong> that has been<br />

Used three times in this verse, the interpretati<strong>on</strong> of lĕpasa must be altered slightly to fit the<br />

c<strong>on</strong>text in each case. In the first hemistich a general statement is made about those who are fit<br />

“to be liberated” . In the sec<strong>on</strong>d <strong>and</strong> third hemistichs (lĕpasa) the implicati<strong>on</strong> appears to be<br />

“about to be liberated” or “<strong>on</strong> the point of achieving liberati<strong>on</strong>”.<br />
