Scenario: “Office city 2.0.” - Hammerbrook
• Presents itself as an urban space that will be important for urban future development due to its
central location in the immediate neighbourhood of the inner city and HafenCity, its good traffic
infrastructure, its proximity to the Elbe bridges and the motorway and the large number of waterfront
sites
• The current monostructural pattern of use does not accord with what is needed of locations that are
potentially key to the city
• Potential of the location: good quality of life on the waterfront, central location for experimenting
with water sites, access via waterways, reasonably priced area with vacancies
The study identified the area around Brandshofer Dyke as currently being a satellite in the cultural and
creative heavens. But when HafenCity has been completed, its eastern edge will come very close to
Brandshofer lock, meaning there is a great deal of potential for this area.
