This project is designed to set a modern
architectural tone at the Scottsdale
Airpark. This 107,000-sq.-ft. airplane
hanger consists of three buildings interconnected
by breezeways. A two-story,
9,120-sq.-ft. terminal building anchors
the project and is flanked by an 11,000
sq. ft. wing that consists of a pilot's
lounge, office space and for lease office
space. The other flank is a 9,450 sq. ft.
wing dedicated to for lease office space.
The project is a combination of three
different structural systems. Pre-engi-
200-ft. clear span to accommodate jet
aircraft. The exterior skin is 36-ft. tall
painted precast panels. The terminals
and office space used a structural steel
The project features a large wing that
acts as a entrance and sun shade, with
the building featuring dramatic parapet
roofing and angled wing walls that break
up the building's mass. The interior features
