membership musings Nancy Warren, Membership Chair
The real driving
season is done... winter
weather is on the
way... now is the time
for upgrades, maintenance
and storage for
our Porsches, and the
“other” car gets more time on the road.
The RMR/AMR events remaining in the
season will be membership socials and
the annual RMR Holiday party.
Thanksgiving is this month, and we
should all be thankful for what we have!
And please try to remember those who
are less fortunate. A big “thank you” to
all the club members who volunteered
their time to help pack holiday food
boxes at Sister Carmen Community
Center. We had a good turnout and lots
of fun, and we packed many grocery
bags in the process!
Here are some statistics about membership.
Nationally, the Porsche Club of
America now has over 60,000 primary
members and over 105,000 total members!
PCA is the largest single-marque
car club in the world and is averaging
225 new members per month. RMR has
1270 primary members and 2170 total
members, and we continue to grow as
a region. Keep up the good work! And
please remember to renew your membership
on time...
The November membership social will
be held at the new Landmark Theaters,
theater #5 on Thursday, November
3rd. The documentary “Senna” will be
shown, and popcorn and soda will be
served! The 2012 Board nominees will
also be elected at this meeting (if no
other candidates are nominated).
The annual Holiday Party will be held
on Saturday, December 10th at the
Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
Please bring a new, unwrapped toy for
“Toys for Tots.” A cash or check donation
will also be accepted. “Toys for
Tots” is a charitable program founded
by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. They
have been providing happiness and
hope to disadvantaged children during
each holiday season since 1947. We will
have two Marines as our special guests.
Happy Thanksgiving... hope to see
YOU at an event soon!
2012 board slate change
When I was age
thirteen, I subscribed
to Hot Rod magazine
and dreamed of Mopar
Hemi drag racers.
Then one summer
afternoon in 1968,
my dad’s best friend
showed up at our Omaha home, driving
his brand-new 912. I stuffed my lanky
frame into the back “seat,” and off we
went in search of Mexican food. I was in
love with everything Porsche by the time
we made it to the end of the block. Needless
to say, I didn’t renew Hot Rod.
Since then, I’ve been to business
school, earned my CFP® license (prac-
Despite best-laid plans, last-minute changes are sometimes unavoidable. The recommended
slate of candidates for the 2012 Board of Directors has been updated
to include Roger Buswell as candidate for Treasurer.
ticing for over 35 years), am a devoted
father and grandfather, have been
divorced once but married my soul mate,
Deneen, in 1992. She isn’t a car person
at all, yet we have a wonderful marriage.
I have been very involved with RMR as
Advertising Coordinator, event chair for
the June Rock ‘N’ Roll DE, flag chief for
the annual Club Race, and sundry other
RMR tasks that I love doing. I founded the
Porsche Breakfast Club about five years
ago. I’ve also been treasurer of a large
service club foundation. My car is a 1982
911SC that has now become notorious as
the “car in infinite rehab.” RMR activities
and coaching my “tweener” daughter’s
soccer team take all my free time.
