FENNELL
CONTINUED FROM A5
ing almost $525,000.
Most of the cash-outs
were made due to financial
hardships, Fennell said.
“That money belongs to the
employees … If the y left
tomorrow we would have to
cash them out.”
The state suggested the
employees pay the mone y
back but that ne ver happened
and the issue is still
unresolved.
As the gener al manager,
Fennell is the one who
recognizes 20-year employees.
This time, board
President Adam Day
bestowed the honor.
A19
As part of the r ecognition,
Day read a poem, written
by staff member s, that
described Fennell’s first
“company car,” a vehicle no
one would want for free, the
time he dressed up as Elvis
Presley and a rumor
Fennell may be getting a
fairgrounds tattoo.
