7. Central c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>an</strong>d m<strong>on</strong>itoring<br />
from heat producti<strong>on</strong> to heat use<br />
Electr<strong>on</strong>ic c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>with</strong> ECL Comfort<br />
D<strong>an</strong>foss develops <strong>an</strong>d produces most<br />
of its flat stati<strong>on</strong> comp<strong>on</strong>ents itself. This<br />
results in crucial benefits for electr<strong>on</strong>ic<br />
c<strong>on</strong>trol in particular. The c<strong>on</strong>trollers of the<br />
new ECL Comfort series c<strong>an</strong> c<strong>on</strong>sequently<br />
perform the following c<strong>on</strong>trolling tasks:<br />
• Requirement dependent c<strong>on</strong>trol of a<br />
district heat tr<strong>an</strong>sfer stati<strong>on</strong><br />
• Buffer m<strong>an</strong>agement accept<strong>an</strong>ce<br />
• C<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>an</strong>d regulati<strong>on</strong> of the <strong>system</strong><br />
pumps<br />
• Weather compensated c<strong>on</strong>trol of the<br />
supply temperature<br />
• C<strong>on</strong>tact point for heat sources<br />
Central c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>an</strong>d m<strong>on</strong>itoring<br />
The use of central c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>an</strong>d m<strong>on</strong>itoring<br />
<strong>system</strong> is recommended to optimise operati<strong>on</strong><br />
<strong>an</strong>d billing in heating <strong>system</strong>, from<br />
energy producti<strong>on</strong> to decentralized heat<br />
distributi<strong>on</strong> <strong>an</strong>d domestic water heating.<br />
For this very purpose D<strong>an</strong>foss flat stati<strong>on</strong>s<br />
offer a complete soluti<strong>on</strong> r<strong>an</strong>ging from<br />
weather compensated heat producti<strong>on</strong> to<br />
buffer t<strong>an</strong>k m<strong>an</strong>agement, through to the<br />
c<strong>on</strong>trol of each individual flat stati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
The “master” in this <strong>system</strong> is the freely<br />
programmable ECL Apex 20, which works<br />
<strong>with</strong> the ECL Apex Web P<strong>an</strong>el or a PC as a<br />
c<strong>on</strong>trol unit that assumes the temperature<br />
<strong>an</strong>d pressure c<strong>on</strong>trol, pump m<strong>an</strong>agement<br />
<strong>an</strong>d <strong>system</strong> m<strong>on</strong>itoring.<br />
For integrati<strong>on</strong> into the <strong>system</strong>, every flat<br />
stati<strong>on</strong> must be fitted <strong>with</strong> the networkenabled<br />
ECL Comfort 310, which communicates<br />
via Modbus <strong>with</strong> the Apex 20.<br />
C<strong>on</strong>sumer data for hot <strong>an</strong>d cold water c<strong>an</strong><br />
therefore also be tr<strong>an</strong>sferred, centrally<br />
recorded <strong>an</strong>d billed.<br />
The most import<strong>an</strong>t benefits of central<br />
c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>an</strong>d m<strong>on</strong>itoring are:<br />
• Weather compensated heat producti<strong>on</strong><br />
(boiler, local <strong>an</strong>d district heating)<br />
• Optimum buffer t<strong>an</strong>k <strong>an</strong>d solar m<strong>an</strong>agement<br />
• Highest possible <strong>system</strong> operati<strong>on</strong> reliability<br />
• Energy <strong>efficient</strong> energy distributi<strong>on</strong><br />
• Central c<strong>on</strong>sumpti<strong>on</strong> recording <strong>an</strong>d<br />
billing<br />
