Front Panel Options<br />
Chapter 1: Introduction<br />
The Panacea series modular routing switchers are <strong>com</strong>patible with all existing<br />
Harris routers <strong>and</strong> control panels. Panacea frames include the following control<br />
options:<br />
• A st<strong>and</strong>ard serial port for <strong>com</strong>munication to/from from <strong>com</strong>puters <strong>and</strong><br />
automation systems (configurable for RS-232 or RS-422)<br />
• One looping coaxial (X-Y) port for connecting to remote control panels <strong>and</strong><br />
other routers<br />
• Support for up to 115K baud serial <strong>com</strong>munications<br />
• One loop-through port for the connection for a synchronization signal<br />
• An Ethernet port (available with enhanced resource module only)<br />
• A local control panel (LCP) option<br />
• A software-based control system<br />
A Panacea frame can be configured with any one of the following front panel<br />
styles:<br />
• A blank front with green power indicator LED (st<strong>and</strong>ard); the LED will be<br />
illuminated if power is applied to frame (a link LED is also present, but only<br />
enabled with enhanced Ethernet <strong>com</strong>munications)<br />
• An optional local control panel1 (Some Panacea front panel units do not have supporting hinges.<br />
Consequently, if the front panel face plate is removed <strong>and</strong> not h<strong>and</strong>led<br />
properly, it can fall with sufficient force to dislocate <strong>and</strong>/or damage the<br />
ribbon cable attached to the resource module connector. When removing the<br />
front panel, hold the face plate firmly to ensure that it does not be<strong>com</strong>e<br />
damaged.)<br />
Figure 1-13 shows examples of the front panel options available for the 1RU<br />
frame. Figure 1-14 shows an example of the front panel options available for the<br />
1RU P16SCQ/P16HSCQ clean/quiet switch. Figure 1-15 shows examples of<br />
the front panel options for the 2RU frame.<br />
