Readiness Mandatory pre-deployment briefings are offered every Wednesday for any active-duty member who will be deployed or TDY 30 days or longer. Attendance is mandatory for active-duty service members. Spouses and family members are welcome to attend. Pre-deployment is held at 9 a.m. Contact the A&FRC at (501) 987-6801. Air Force members must maintain a continuous state of readiness. Being prepared to carry out the mission is everyone’s responsibility. It takes time and great effort to ensure that an Airman is prepared to carry out his or her military commitment and family obligations as well. At the A&FRC, we try to offset some of the stressors that may occur during separation due to a deployment or remote assignment. Regardless of a member’s status, the information and programs offered through our services can better prepare you for those situations. Support Services Deployment/remote assignments can be especially difficult for family members left behind. The A&FRC offers a variety of support programs and resources to help offset some of the stressors that families may encounter during separation. Morale calls, free oil change and child care vouchers, video phone links, emergency relief assistance and a resource room are just a few of the services available. Contact A&FRC for details. Post Deployment Support Although separation is often stressful and emotionally challenging, reintegration and reunion can be just as challenging. The A&FRC offers information and referral services to aid members and their families deal with the strains and stresses of reintegration and reunion … transitioning back to as joyful and stress-free lifestyle as possible. Personal Financial Readiness The Personal Financial Readiness consultant affords Air Force family members the opportunity to take advantage of financial management consultation if the need arises. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Ethan Morgan) Mandated Personal Financial Readiness Brief A four-hour briefing for members arriving at their first duty station (all E-3 and below and first-term duty station officers). This briefing covers financial planning and readiness. Air Force Aid Society The Air Force Aid Society is an internal financial support program funded by AF members for AF members. It assists members with emergency loans for travel home in the event of a family death, emergency car care, calling cards distributed by A&FRC and Bundles for Baby (blankets, sheets, diapers, first-year book). The AFAS can offer assistance as a loan or grant, if the matter so warrants, per the discretion of the AFAS Headquarters. AFAS also sponsors community enhancement programs such as car care certificates and free childcare. Military and Family Life Consultants MFLC is a Department of Defense initiative to support military members and families. It includes solutionfocused consultation, and members and families may have up to 12 visits. MFLCs are licensed clinical counselors assigned to Little Rock AFB to work with families, individuals, couples and children to provide nonmedical problem-identification counseling services. Nonmedical counseling services include anger management, conflict resolution, parenting, relationship issues, homesickness, deployment stress and decisionmaking skills. Retiree Activities Office Bldg. 1250 Phone: (501) 987-6095, (501) 987-5254, (877) 815-3111 Hours: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 pm. The purpose of the Retiree Activities Office at Little Rock AFB is to assist retirees of all services with whatever their needs might be. It applies to retirees, their family members and their surviving spouses. The Retiree Activities Office can assist active-duty personnel and veterans in applying for VA disability and assist retirees with pay, TRICARE or just about any other issues that might arise. The Retiree Activities Office also has volunteers working at the base clinic and the pharmacy call-in. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the office. The Retiree Activities Office can issue a shopping card to an individual who is going to shop at the base exchange, commissary or pharmacy so that he or she can shop for a retiree who is handicapped, validated by a letter from their doctor. This card will allow the shopper to shop with the card and member’s ID card. In the past, the member would have to go to the base exchange and commissary to get a letter. This office also furnishes retirement flags to the retiring member at no cost to the retiree.
