THE ARKANSAS STATE FLAG HISTORY
The flag contains a diamond that sits on a red
backdrop, representing the only place in
North America that diamonds have been
mined. Twenty-five white stars around the
diamond signify that Arkansas was the
twenty-fifth state to join the Union. Four
stars surround the word Arkansas in the
center of the flag. The top star recognizes
Arkansas as a Confederate State during the
Civil War. The other three stars represent
Spain, France and the United States as
countries that had rule over the land.
