KRUEGER<br />

Ralph Krueger was named the 11th Head Coach<br />

of the Edmonton Oilers when Steve Tambellini<br />

announced his promotion on June 27, 2012 after<br />

spending the past two years as an Associate Coach.<br />

Krueger, 52, is entering his third season with the<br />

Oilers and his first as an NHL head coach. The<br />

Winnipeg, Manitoba native was in charge of special<br />

teams last season, helping the team’s powerplay<br />

vault to third in the NHL with a 20.6-percent<br />

success rate.<br />

HEAD COACH<br />

Most recently in a lead role, Krueger was the head coach of the Swiss National Team, anchoring<br />

a three-year tenure where he helped the squad climb eight spots to seventh overall in the IIHF<br />

World Hockey Rankings. In doing so, he also coached the Swiss to a sixth place finish at the 2010<br />

Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver.<br />

From 1991 to 1998, he was the general manager and head coach of VEU Feldkirch in Austria’s<br />

First Division. Between the Austrian, Alpenleague and European titles, nine championships were<br />

won under his guidance and leadership.<br />

Krueger played his major junior hockey in the WCHL with New Westminster and Calgary before<br />

playing in the German 1st Division from 1979-1989. He was also part of the German National<br />

Team from 1981-1986 in which the he participated in the World Championship twice.<br />

Krueger, who wrote a German best-seller called “TEAMLIFE – Over Setbacks to Success”, has<br />

also served as a European Consultant with the Carolina Hurricanes from 2005 until 2010.<br />

He and his wife, Glenda, have a son, Justin (25), who was drafted by Carolina in 2006 and a<br />

daughter, Geena (22).<br />
