Technical Stroking/Edges<br />
• Stroking must be performed with effortless power and flow, combined<br />
with a superior ability to lean and change direction at high speeds<br />
• Acquisition of power during stroking must be invisible and soundless<br />
• It is essential that both partners are equal in this regard<br />
Skating Skills<br />
• Athletes must demonstrate the ability to perform all turns (both<br />
directions), show extreme co-ordination and a balance of creative hops,<br />
steps, split jumps, etc.<br />
• Athletes must be capable of utilizing full body movement<br />
• Demonstrated mastery of quality extension and body line is mandatory<br />
• Athletes can generate power that breathes effortless flow and quietness<br />
on the ice<br />
Pattern Dances<br />
• Both partners must be able to perform all pattern dances with power,<br />
speed, flow, pinpoint timing, accuracy and consistency of pattern<br />
• Both athletes must also be able to display a high level of interpretive<br />
ability regardless of the rhythm of the dance<br />
Dance Spins<br />
• Must be performed at the highest level possible and receive positive GOE<br />
• Both partners must be able to execute spins in both directions with a<br />
maintenance of high speed of rotation<br />
• Spins must incorporate strong and difficult positions and incorporate<br />
creative entries and exits<br />
Step Sequences<br />
• Both skaters must be able to perform all complex turns multi-directionally<br />
at high speed, both side-by-side and in dance hold<br />
• Executing the sequence with finite attention to music phrasing is vital<br />
Twizzles<br />
• Both partners must be able to twizzle on both feet and in both directions<br />
at high speeds<br />
• Twizzles must be executed seamlessly and in complete unison, while<br />
incorporating both arm and leg features<br />
• Twizzles should be incorporated into the programs in such a way that they<br />
stand out (i.e. to look like it is a relevant part of the program and not an<br />
isolated element)<br />
Field Movements<br />
• Though not required elements, field movements should be incorporated<br />
into program choreography and transitions<br />
• Both athletes should demonstrate superior flexibility, body control,<br />
innovative positions, strength and fluidity<br />
Lifts<br />
• Lifts must be executed with good timing and demonstrate superior<br />
flexibility of both athletes, strength, speed and flow<br />
• Athletes must be able to execute lifts with difficult and innovative entries<br />
and exits that maximize the position options allowed by the rules of the<br />
sport<br />
• Lifts must blend seamlessly into the choreography of the program and be<br />
performed in such a way so as to receive positive GOEs<br />
