5.3 Regional <strong>Sport</strong> Assemblies<br />
Regional <strong>Sport</strong> Assemblies exist to facilitate<br />
and promote participation in sport. They work<br />
with local governments, sport clubs, and state<br />
and regional sport associations to develop<br />
regional links that support clubs and other<br />
bodies in delivering sport opportunities,<br />
conduct sport events and provide<br />
organisational development opportunities for<br />
member organisations and individuals.<br />
In the area of <strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong>, Regional <strong>Sport</strong><br />
Assemblies could assist in increasing the<br />
number of people in the <strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> age<br />
category participating in sport by undertaking<br />
all or some of the following tasks:<br />
◗ Encouraging <strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> to be<br />
addressed in club and regional association<br />
development plans,<br />
◗ Promoting <strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> directly to clubs,<br />
◗ Creating regional level games with<br />
<strong>Masters</strong> components,<br />
◗ Providing training and information on<br />
<strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> issues, and<br />
◗ Promoting <strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> role models.<br />
