8.2 Training and Information<br />

Programs<br />

Training and information programs which<br />

may assist your organisation in developing a<br />

<strong>Masters</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> opportunity include:<br />

Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP)<br />

– contact State VIP Coordinator,<br />

The VIP promotes the value of the volunteer<br />

in the planning and operation of sport and<br />

recreation organisations. The key elements<br />

which make up the VIP are: education,<br />

recognition, planning, volunteer management<br />

and promotion. The education program aims<br />

to improve the skill levels of volunteer<br />

administrators at the club and regional<br />

association levels.<br />

The education program of the VIP offers six<br />

short introductory workshops, each running<br />

for approximately 2 hours. The workshop<br />

topics are: Event Management, Club<br />

Marketing, Financial Management,<br />

Committee Management, Sponsorship and<br />

Fundraising, and Recruiting Retaining and<br />

Managing Volunteers. Workshops are<br />

organised by local government, regional<br />

sports assemblies, state sporting associations<br />

and other organisations.<br />

<strong>Victorian</strong> Coaching Centre (VCC) –<br />

The VCC offers coaching advice, generic<br />

seminars and coaching courses for core<br />

modules on behalf of the <strong>Australian</strong> Coaching<br />

Council. Individual sports also offer sport<br />

specific modules which lead to accreditation<br />

under the National Coaching Accreditation<br />

Scheme.<br />

Active Australia is a framework aimed at<br />

improving the participation level of people in<br />

physical activity. One aspect of the program is<br />

an organisational development tool which<br />

sport organisations can use to improve their<br />

management and administration by a series of<br />

checklists and information tools.
