RATIONALE<br />

GOAL<br />

The IS-613 <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Writing</strong> course is designed as an<br />

asynchronous course. This course supports the Master Trainer<br />

professional and communication foundational competencies of<br />

the Instructional Design Certificate program. The course will<br />

consist of multiple modules instructing to the comprehension of<br />

research, writing, and graphic communications principles.<br />

The purpose of the IS-613 <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Writing</strong> course is to provide<br />

participants with comprehension level knowledge of research,<br />

written, and graphical skills needed to communicate with diverse<br />

audiences and stakeholders.<br />

<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Writing</strong> contains 7 units. Each unit is described below.<br />

• Unit 1: Course Introduction, offers an overview of the course<br />

content<br />

• Unit 2: Research in Communications<br />

• Unit 3: Communications Considerations and Models<br />

• Unit 4: The <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>Writing</strong> Process<br />

• Unit 5: Design and Strategy<br />

• Unit 6: Graphic Communications<br />
