sulfates which are insoluble m water. Moreover, the soluble portions<br />

<strong>of</strong> the residues from the primers which contain barium<br />

nitrate are alkaline <strong>and</strong> are even capable <strong>of</strong> neutralizing any<br />

acidity which might arise from the smokeless powder.<br />
