provisions in the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982); their sole purpose was to effect textual amendments to earlier statutes and thus they are now spent, (for example the Acts relating to the Church of Scotland Trust, Aberdeen Shoemakers Incorporation and the Society of the Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland); or they are redundant because circumstances have changed, (as in the case of the Merchants House (Crematorium) Act which empowered the Merchants House to erect and operate a crematorium on specified ground that in fact it no longer owns). Interested parties were in all cases consulted about repeal and had no objection. 91
