CHECKING THE IGNITION<br />
Inspecting the magneto<br />
- Remove the inspection cover, so as to be able to<br />
reach the magneto connectors.<br />
- Disconnect the Black /Red feed cable from the<br />
coil and the 2-way connector in the White/Red<br />
and the White/Yellow cables.<br />
- Check that the resistance values are in line with<br />
the following tables:<br />
The values for consulting the table should be<br />
read between 20º and 30º C.<br />
- If the actual values are not the same as those on<br />
the table, check the wiring before replacing the<br />
mageto.<br />
Inspecting the coil<br />
- Withdraw the spark plug cap.<br />
- Check the resistance of the secondary winding of<br />
the coil between points A and B.<br />
- The correct value between A and B: 5 - 6 kΩ.<br />
- If the value of the resistance of the secondary<br />
winding and the magneto are correct, the coil<br />
assembly should be replaced.<br />
Checking the spark plug cap<br />
- Check the value of the resistance between the<br />
terminals of the spark plug cap.<br />
- The correct value of the resistance: 9 - 11 kΩ.<br />
SWITCHES AND SENSORS<br />
Ignition switch<br />
- Remove the panels so as to be able to reach the<br />
ignition lock connectors.<br />
- Remove the ignition lock to carry out the continuity<br />
check as in the attached diagram.<br />
Code and function of the colours<br />
BL - Blue .............Earth input<br />
Wh/R - White/Red....Engine stop<br />
Or - Orange ........Output and for battery accessories<br />
Gr - Green ..........Input and Battery<br />
- If the continuity test is not satisfactory, replace<br />
the ignition lock.<br />
- If the test is satisfactory, check the general condition<br />
of the cables in the wiring.<br />
