Using the Languages Sample<br />

Modifying the Language of <strong>eWebEditPro</strong><br />

<strong>eWebEditPro</strong> content can be in any language supported by the browser, which is<br />

largely controlled by Windows regional settings. The content can contain multiple<br />

languages simultaneously. The HTML languages sample (http://localhost/<br />

ewebeditpro5/samples/html/languages/languages.htm)<br />

demonstrates a page with several languages.<br />

For accented characters, the user can select from the list of special and extended<br />

characters available on the standard toolbar (see below) or type from the<br />

keyboard.<br />

Also, non-English keyboards usually have the characters printed.<br />

You can enter special characters with an English keyboard (using Alt keys) using<br />

the IME (input editor). See Windows Control Panel > Regional Options > Input<br />

Locales.<br />

The following <strong>eWebEditPro</strong> sample screen illustrates how the locale file affects<br />

the editor.<br />

Start > Programs > Ektron>ewebeditpro5 > Samples > HTML Samples ><br />

Languages<br />

Select the language of your choice. Then, move the cursor over any toolbar<br />

button and notice that the tooltip appears in the selected language. Also, if you<br />

click an icon that displays a dialog box (such as Insert Picture), the dialog box<br />

appears in the selected language.<br />

Displaying Menus and Dialogs in a non-European Language<br />

If you specify an Asian or Middle Eastern language locale for <strong>eWebEditPro</strong>, and<br />

you are running a European (for example, English) version of Windows, the non-<br />

European characters may appear as question marks (?) instead of the ideogram.<br />

Similarly, accented Latin (that is, European) characters may appear without their<br />

accent marks on an Asian version of Windows.<br />

These problems occur because the language’s character set is not loaded in the<br />

client PC’s Windows operating system. Any Unicode character that does not have<br />
