Contact: If a student is going to be late, or miss entirely, the instructor should be previously<br />

notified when realistic, or called as soon as possible.<br />

Class breaks: There is a break schedule, with a ten-minute break for every 50 minutes of<br />

instruction. One twenty-minute break will be scheduled for both the morning <strong>and</strong><br />

evening sessions. Breaks may vary at the discretion of the instructor.<br />

Attire: OSHA regulations require closed toed shoes <strong>and</strong> sleeved tops that cover the entire<br />

torso. Black pants/skirts/capris are allowed non-denim. Red, black, gray <strong>and</strong> white<br />

tops are permitted. Skirts <strong>and</strong> dresses are allowed if longer than knee while sitting<br />

<strong>and</strong> worn with leggings or opaque tights. Black shoes/socks. Hats, sleeveless tops,<br />

colors not mentioned, shorts, <strong>and</strong> all types of denim are not permitted.<br />

Behavior: No profanity within the classroom environment will be tolerated. (We are learning<br />

to be professionals). No ethnic or sexist humor. There will be no ridicule of another<br />

student. All students are paying to learn. There is no stupid question.<br />

Food <strong>and</strong> drink: Food <strong>and</strong> drink in the classroom <strong>and</strong> clinic are not permitted. Drinks in closed<br />

containers are allowed at the instructors’ discretion.<br />

Phone usage <strong>and</strong><br />

Messages: All students have the use of the public telephones located at the south side of the<br />

building near the student entrance. Every effort will be made to locate a student in<br />

emergency situations.<br />

CELL PHONES OR PAGERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CLASS ROOM, BUT CALLS/TEXTING<br />

MUST BE HANDLED OUT OF CLASSROOM.<br />

Parking: All students will use the student parking area located surrounding the building. The<br />

obstruction of fire lanes is unwise, <strong>and</strong> in the event of emergency vehicles entering<br />

the property, any damage to your vehicle will not be the liability of the emergency<br />

vehicles. Parking in the h<strong>and</strong>icapped spaces without the necessary plate or placard,<br />

the police may be notified, <strong>and</strong> you may be ticketed. Parking in marked spaces for<br />

shared tenants <strong>and</strong> <strong>IntelliTec</strong> customers is not allowed.<br />

Attendance Policy:<br />

Students are expected to attend <strong>and</strong> make productive use of all available training time: five hours for<br />

each day of training scheduled. The h<strong>and</strong>s-on learning environment makes it imperative you are in<br />

class to receive the full benefit of instruction <strong>and</strong> practice time given. Make up labs are not an<br />

adequate substitute for being in class when the modality is taught. Please make every effort to ensure<br />

your future professional success as a massage therapist by attending every scheduled class.<br />

If you are going to be absent please inform your instructor ahead of time. If an unplanned absence<br />

occurs please call the front desk receptionist at (719)542-3181<strong>and</strong> leave a message for your instructor.<br />

It is understood that there may be instances where a student may miss class due to personal illness,<br />

illness or death within their immediate family or other unforeseen emergency situations. In those cases<br />
