Utilize resources in the Library Resource Center to assist you in completing your makeup<br />

assignment: Computer, Library Books, Periodicals, Etc.<br />

After you complete the makeup hours, sign out on the appropriate clipboard for the Cosmetology<br />

Program at the Tec Café counter.<br />

Deliver your makeup assignment to the college front desk <strong>and</strong> ask the receptionist to put the<br />

assignment in your instructors’ mailbox. If the receptionist has left for the day, please put your<br />

assignment in the folder labeled Cosmetology Assignments, located in the Tec Café.<br />

All make-up hours need to be completed “in full” by the following Friday of the week you missed<br />

class.<br />

o Example: Miss 3 hours of class on a Tuesday. You have until the following Friday (8 days)<br />

to makeup your hours<br />

o Miss 5 hours of class on a Thursday. You have until the following Friday (4 days) to makeup<br />

your hours<br />

Student have the option to spread out their makeup hours <strong>and</strong> make them up on various days, not all<br />

on the same day, just making sure that you have them completely made up by that following Friday.<br />

All makeup hours must be completed by the end of each course.<br />

Example: If you miss class time during week 6 of your course, you will only have until Friday of that week<br />

to makeup your time.<br />

Please note that if you miss practical labs, instructor lecture, group activities, etc. you are not receiving<br />

credit for those assignments by making up hours during makeup time. Makeup time is strictly to make up<br />

classroom “seat” time (clock hours). You will still receive the appropriate grade for what you have missed<br />

in class such as 10% off for late homework, 0 points for lab time, etc.<br />

Please feel free to contact your program supervisor, Melissa Bruce, if you have any questions regarding<br />

this policy.<br />

Makeup days <strong>and</strong> hours are also posted in the break area of the Cosmetology building.<br />

If an absence occurs <strong>and</strong> the student has missed the number of hours listed below,<br />

the following actions shall be taken immediately:<br />

1 st Missed Class (6 hours)<br />

Instructor must make verbal contact with the student <strong>and</strong> annotate it in the Student<br />

Info data file<br />

2 nd Missed Class (12 hours)<br />

The Instructor <strong>and</strong> Program Supervisor will attempt to contact the student.<br />

3 rd Missed Class (18 hours)<br />

The Dean of Students <strong>and</strong> or Retention Specialist will attempt to contact student. A<br />

Student Support Plan will be drawn up on the student, requiring the student<br />

signature.<br />

AT 25% absences (23 hours)<br />
