6.5.1 Indication for elective and pre labour Caesarean section<br />

Thirty-nine percent of all elective and pre-labour emergency Caesarean sections were<br />

performed for the primary indication of ‘repeat Caesarean section’. Specifically among<br />

multiparous women, 61% of elective and pre-labour Caesarean sections were performed<br />

primarily for “repeat Caesarean”.<br />
