Standard Features
The power source has the fol low ing stan dard
fea tures.
a. Short-Circuit Pro tec tion – The out put of the
power source can be short cir cuited in any of the
modes of op er a tion. This pro tec tion fea ture will
in stantly limit the out put cur rent to a safe value, to
as sure re li able op er a tion of the power source.
b. Out put Over load Pro tec tion – The over load
pro tec tion fea ture will limit the con tin u ous weld
cur rent to the max i mum value listed in the spec i fi -
ca tions for any of the modes of op er a tion. The
ma chine will con tinue to op er ate but the cur rent
will be lim ited to this max i mum value.
c. Cooling Fan Con trol – The cool ing fans are
de signed to op er ate only when re quired. They
will come on when ever the out put contactor con -
sev eral min utes when the ma chine is first turned
on and will nor mally stay on for sev eral min utes
d. Overtemperature Pro tec tion – If the ma -
chine over heats be cause of blocked air flow, ex -
ces sive am bi ent tem per a tures, failed fan, or
other cause, the overtemperature pro tec tion will
dis able the out put of the power source un til it has
cooled down. If the overtemperature pro tec tion
cir cuit op er ates, it will turn on the in di ca tor light
on the front panel and the fans should con tinue to
run un til the ma chine cools. The
