communications, including those at <strong>border</strong> crossings, and it also per<strong>for</strong>ms<br />

works of geodesic engineering.<br />

• Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government comprises<br />

the state inspection service which supervises the work of all administrative<br />

bodies.<br />

• Ministry of Justice has a role in the process of <strong>integrated</strong> <strong>border</strong><br />

<strong>management</strong> to improve co-operation on bilateral, regional, and international<br />

levels, by applying bilateral and multilateral conventions which regulate cross<strong>border</strong><br />

co-operation.<br />

• Ministry of Trade, Tourism, and Services undertakes measures on creating<br />

the conditions <strong>for</strong> the free trade of goods and services on one hand, and on<br />

suppressing illegal activities on the other hand, by institutional and concrete<br />

measures of trade inspection in its area of the competences within internal<br />

turnover of goods. The trade inspection in<strong>for</strong>ms <strong>for</strong>eign companies on<br />

conditions of the internal turnover of goods and on necessary documentation<br />

regarding the quality of industrial non-alimentary products and products’<br />

safety; and also controls implementation of these regulations. The Ministry<br />

per<strong>for</strong>ms the tasks of the inspection surveillance on the implementation of the<br />

regulations in the area of tourism and catering-tourist through the Tourist<br />

Inspection Service.<br />

• Ministry of International Economic Relations is competent <strong>for</strong> improving<br />

the international economic relations, politics and <strong>for</strong>eign trade regime, <strong>for</strong>eign<br />

investments, coordination of activities in the field of planning, procuring, and<br />

using donations and other <strong>for</strong>ms of aid from abroad. The Ministry of<br />

International Economic Relations conducts process of negotiations referring<br />

to the membership of the Republic of Serbia with the World Trade<br />

Organization, and trade negotiations with the European Union. It is important<br />

to note that the Ministry of International Economic Relations co-operates<br />

closely with business people of Serbia, including <strong>for</strong>eign investors, directly or<br />

through their associations.<br />

• Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection which adopts solutions<br />

and issues licences in connection with cross-<strong>border</strong> turnover of poison and<br />

other dangerous materials, in compliance with international obligations and<br />

national legislature. Also, this Ministry per<strong>for</strong>ms duties of ecological inspection<br />

and supervision, controlling circulation of sources of ionic radiation, toxic<br />

matters, wastes, protected plants and animal species, substances that<br />

damage the ozone layer.<br />

• Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Police, aimed at better and<br />

efficient control of entering the <strong>for</strong>eigners into the territory of the Republic of<br />

Serbia in order to be employed, per<strong>for</strong>ms duties of the state office which<br />

among other things are related to employment of the <strong>for</strong>eigners in the territory<br />

of the Republic of Serbia and issuing work permits, application of the<br />

international conventions and other international documents in the field of<br />

employment and migrations.<br />

• The EU Integration Office is the Government body, which per<strong>for</strong>ms duties<br />

related to the European integration and offers expert help to the Government<br />

and ministries and competent organisations in adjusting regulations according<br />

to the EU standards.
