Non-EU members Albania, Bosnia-Herzegov<strong>in</strong>a, Former Yugoslav Republic of<br />

Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukra<strong>in</strong>e also have hydropower <strong>in</strong>dustry<br />

and thus br<strong>in</strong>g an additional 37 TWh of hydropower generation <strong>in</strong>to the picture. 6<br />

Accord<strong>in</strong>g to the various national hydropower <strong>in</strong>ventories 7 , total <strong>in</strong>stalled hydropower<br />

capacity is 136 GW <strong>in</strong> the EU-27, with an additional 62 GW <strong>in</strong> Norway, Switzerland,<br />

Turkey, Croatia and Iceland comb<strong>in</strong>ed. Thus, hydropower represents around 17% of<br />

the total <strong>in</strong>stalled capacity <strong>in</strong> the EU-27 and 20% <strong>in</strong> EURELECTRIC <strong>Europe</strong> (Fig. 3).<br />
